Exeter Cycling Campaign has a vision for Exeter.
A vision in which the public benefit of cycling is realised where anyone, from seven to seventy years old, can choose to cycle on paths and streets which are safe, convenient and connected throughout the city.
A vision for where cycling is integrated for the benefit of all into the fabric of Exeter via comprehensive, convenient and connected cycle infrastructure, making cycling the safe, natural choice for a large proportion of everyday journeys.

The Exeter Cycling Charter is a simple statement of support for ‘cycling’ as the means of making Exeter a better city.
It outlines the benefits cycling can bring to our city and is something that businesses, schools, the health sector, shops and individuals can readily support.
Over 200 organisations and 300 individuals in Exeter have signed the Charter.
Exeter Cycling Charter
We, the people, businesses, organisations and schools in Exeter want our city to be a vibrant place to work, study, thrive and do business.
We recognise that…
- cycling has an important part to play in addressing Exeter's challenges of congestion, inactive lifestyles, pollution and population growth.
- cycling supports local business, boosts economic productivity and contributes to the health and well-being of our workforce.
- pressure on the growing city will be relieved if more people cycle.
- increasing physical activity significantly eases the burden on our health and social care services.
We want Exeter to be a city where...
- children can cycle to school or college safely.
- people can travel to work safely, directly and easily on a convenient and connected cycle network.
- our roads and public spaces prioritise people and make cycling the safe, natural choice for a large proportion of everyday journeys.
- cycling contributes to our prosperity, helps us stay healthy and keeps people and goods moving.
We want to support our leaders in delivering this better future for the people, businesses, organisations and schools of Exeter.

MAKING OUR STREETS COVID SAFE
The Exeter Cycling Campaign welcomes Devon County Council’s call for local suggestions for how our streets can be made covid-safe. We recognise the government imperative to act quickly and to use pop-up infrastructure to create space for people to walk and cycle safely. Therefore, the campaign has put together a document detailing areas of concern and suggested solutions.

In Winter 2020/21 the 'Safer Travel Support Officer' at Devon County Council (Matthew McDonald) approached a number of local cycle-related organisations with the offer of the loan of helmet cameras so that cyclists could trial the submission of footage to Devon and Cornwall Police’s Operation SNAP web site.
